WHERE MERCHANTS ARE

Design studio

Look like the business you actually are.

Gift cards, logos, menus, and the whole kit. Designed by the same person who set up your terminal — so what’s on the card matches what’s on the screen, the receipt, and the window.

What we design

Four things, done properly.

Take one piece or the whole identity. Most people start with whichever thing they’re embarrassed to hand a customer.

THE PLACE TOSHOP LOCALGIFT CARD$25

Gift card design

Custom cards that look like they came from a real brand, not a template gallery. Physical and digital, ready for the program running on your terminal.

  • Front and back artwork, print-ready to the card printer’s spec
  • Seasonal and holiday variants from one base design
  • Matching digital version for text and email delivery
  • Carrier sleeves and counter display cards
  • Barcode and redemption panel placed correctly the first time
If you’re already running gift cards through us, this is the piece that makes them sell.

Logo & identity

A mark that works at the size of a receipt and the size of a sign. Most small business logos fail one of those two tests.

  • Primary logo, stacked and horizontal versions
  • Icon-only mark for social profiles and favicons
  • One-color and reversed versions for embroidery and signage
  • Color palette with print and screen values
  • Type choices with the licenses sorted out
Delivered as vector files, so it never pixelates no matter how big it gets printed.

Menu design

Menus that are easy to read across a dim room and easy to reprint when your food cost moves. Designed so prices are the easy thing to change.

  • Dine-in, takeout, and bar or drinks menus
  • QR menu and mobile layout that isn’t a shrunk-down PDF
  • Menu boards and counter displays — printed to brushed metal for outdoors, or backlit film for illuminated frames
  • Built so you can update prices without redesigning the page
  • Item names matched to what’s in your POS
If we’ve already built your menu in the point of sale, half this work is done.

Branding kit

Everything at once, so it all matches. This is the one that makes a five-year-old business suddenly look established.

  • Logo suite, typography, and a color palette with a second colorway for signage and merchandise
  • Business cards, loyalty cards, and gift cards
  • Window decals and payment acceptance signage
  • Social profile images, banners, and post templates
  • Receipt header, email signature, and invoice layout
  • A short guide so anyone you hire keeps it consistent
Includes the small stuff most kits forget — the receipt header and the window decal.

How it works

No surprises, no endless revisions.

Fixed scope, fixed number of rounds, agreed before anyone starts drawing.

Tell us about it

What the business is, who walks in, what you like and what you can’t stand. Fifteen minutes on the phone beats a form.

Concepts

You see two or three genuinely different directions — not one idea in three colors. Pick a direction or tell us neither works.

Two rounds of changes

Included in the price and stated up front. Extra rounds are billable, and we’ll tell you before the meter starts, not after.

Files and handover

You get everything, in every format you’ll need, plus the print-ready versions sent straight to whoever’s printing.

What you actually receive

Files you can use anywhere, forever.

The single most common complaint about small-business design work is being handed one low-resolution JPEG and nothing else. That won’t happen here.

Vector originals

.ai / .svg / .eps — scales to a billboard without going fuzzy. This is the file a sign shop will ask for.

Print-ready

.pdf with bleed, crop marks, and CMYK color, matched to your printer’s spec sheet.

Screen versions

.png with transparency and .jpg at the sizes your website and social profiles actually want.

The written details

Exact color values, font names and where they’re licensed from, and spacing rules — so the next person you hire can match it.

Prices are for design, build and setup services only and do not include card processing, equipment, or third-party platform fees. Print prices are per piece at the quantity shown and may change with customization; a $65 production handling charge applies once per print order and the minimum print order is $150; hardware passes through at cost. A 50% deposit starts the work; the balance is due on delivery of final files and before print production (Terms of Use §17). Pieces above 11×17 and catering or family-tray menus carry the up-charges listed above. Website hosting is a separate environment from your payment terminal — securing one does not secure the other, and PCI compliance remains your responsibility under your merchant agreement; a security consultation is guidance, not a certification or an attestation of compliance. The Place To Shop Local, LLC · Queen Creek, Arizona.

Who owns the artwork

You do. On final payment, the finished designs are yours outright — to print, change, license, or take to another designer. We don’t hold artwork hostage and we don’t charge a release fee.

Two honest exceptions. Fonts are licensed from their foundries, not owned by either of us — we’ll tell you which ones and what the license covers, and stick to fonts you can keep using. Stock imagery, if any is used, comes with its own license, and we’ll pass the details to you in writing.

We’d like to show finished work in a portfolio, but that’s your call and we’ll ask before posting anything.

The full position on ownership, third-party marks and licensed components is on our Copyright & Trademark page.

Straight answers

Fair questions.

We already have a logo. Can you just do the gift cards?

Yes, and often that’s the right call. If your logo works, we’ll build around it. If it genuinely doesn’t reproduce at card size — too much detail, too many colors, no vector file — we’ll tell you what the problem is and what it’d take to fix, without insisting you rebrand.

What if we don’t like any of the concepts?

Then we talk about why, and we go again once at no extra charge. If we’re still not there after that, we part ways and you pay for the work done so far, not the full project. We’d rather that than push something you’ll be stuck looking at every day.

A free website builder gives me a site and online ordering. Why would I pay you?

Because sometimes you shouldn’t. If a free builder gets you a page with your hours, your menu and an order button, take it — we will tell you that rather than sell around it. Two things those platforms do not do. They do not print: there is no backlit menu board, no metal sign, no table tent, no gift card artwork, no window decal. And the site belongs to the platform — what we build sits on your own domain and hosting, and is yours outright once it is paid for.

There are template services for twenty or forty dollars a month that do menus.

There are, and they are good at what they do. If you are happy laying out your own menu, keeping the QR version current and sending it to the printer yourself, that is genuinely cheaper than us and we would say so. What you are buying here is somebody doing it — item names matched to what is already in your point of sale, files sent print-ready to whoever is printing, and the whole thing handled again when your food cost moves. A subscription gives you a tool. We give you the finished piece.

Canva is free and my nephew is pretty good at it.

Canva is free, and for a flyer it is frequently enough. Where it breaks is file types. A logo made in a template tool is not a vector, so it cannot be cut for signage, embroidered on a shirt, or printed large without going soft — and nobody discovers this until a sign shop asks for a file that does not exist. That is usually the phone call. Not the logo. The sign.

Do we have to buy processing from you to get design work?

No. These are separate services. They work better together — matching what’s on your card, your receipt, and your screen is easier when one person handles all three — but there’s no requirement and we won’t bundle you into something you didn’t ask for.

How long does it take?

A single gift card or menu is usually a week or two. A full identity is longer, mostly because of the back-and-forth. Card printing adds roughly another two weeks on top, so plan ahead if you want cards on the counter before the holidays.

Do you use AI to generate this?

We’ll tell you exactly what the process was on your project, in writing, before you commit. If any part of a design is AI-assisted you’ll know, because it affects what you can protect and register later. That’s your decision to make with the facts in front of you.

Can you match what’s already on our terminal?

That’s the easiest version of this job. If we set up your POS, we already have your item names, your categories, and your receipt layout. The design just has to agree with what’s already there.

Show us what you’re handing customers now.

Send a photo of your current menu, gift card, or sign. We’ll tell you honestly whether it needs redoing or whether you’re fine and should spend the money elsewhere.
